The Contra Costa County Children and Families Commission isrecruiting volunteers to

review proposals for the 2000-2001 Grantmaking Process.

Scope of Work. Volunteer reviewers will to readand review proposals according to

previously specified criteria, and participate in-groupreview sessions. Training will be provided.

Volunteer Reviewer Eligibility. VolunteerReviewers must have expertise with the target population (children zero to fiveand their families) or expertise reviewing proposals. Volunteers must also certify that they do not have a financialinterest in any organization applying for funding.

A volunteer is considered to have financial interest inan organization if any of the following circumstances apply, either currently,or during any period since January 1, 2000:

• The volunteer is employed by or has a contract with the organization
• The volunteer is a director, officer, partner or trustee of the organization.
• The volunteers immediate family member is employed by or with or has a contract with the organization.

If it is found that a volunteer has a financial interest inan organization submitting a grant proposal, the affected organization will notbe eligible to receive funds. Such afinding may take place at any time including throughout the grant review andcontract negotiation process and/or after contracts have been awarded.

Application process. Those interested in reviewinggrant proposals should submit a resume, along with a completed Volunteer GrantReviewer Application, and brief written responses to the following:

1. Briefly explain your experience working with the target population (children zero to five and their families).

2. Describe any employment or experiences that relate to reviewing grant proposals, narratives and budgets.

Submit your completed application with the requiredattachments by fax or mail. Applications will be accepted and reviewers will beselected on an ongoing as needed basis.
